Gems & jewellery centre to come up in Meerut

The Uttar Pradesh Government is planning to set up a gems and jewellery centre in Meerut. The proposed centre is likely to boost exports and trade in precious stones and metals, says a report.

The report further adds that the centre is being set up at an investment of over Rs 5.26 crore, under the Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme of the central government.

The state government has asked the officials to expedite work on the project so that it would be ready got inauguration on April 1, 2015.
