Rio Tinto brings together its portfolio of assets under four main groups

Rio Tinto has implemented some changes in its organisation, to manage better efficiency and costs, reports say. Within this, it has brought together its portfolio of assets under four product groups: Aluminium, Copper and Coal, Diamonds and Minerals, and Iron Ore, reports say.

The company has added Uranium to its Diamonds and Minerals product group, led by product group chief executive Alan Davies. Coal operation is combined with the copper division and together they form the new Copper and Coal product group, led by Jean-Sébastien Jacques - Chief Executive of the copper operation. There are no changes in the Aluminium and Iron Ore product groups, reports add.

Also, Energy chief executive Harry Kenyon-Slaney would be leaving the company following the restructuring and key corporate functions would undergo changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, as part of the ongoing optimization plans.
