South African youth to get diamond polishing training in Surat

The South Africa Government has signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to train young South Africans for diamond polishing in Surat, says reports.

As per reports, the first batch this year will see 50 students who have cleared their class X exams attend the training session, which will be of about six months.

Also, on the cards is JV between South Africa government and Gujarat government to bring together the skills of Surat and the rough diamonds of South Africa, adds a report.

South Africa has reportedly introduced a number of incentives and policy interventions to augment its exports of value-added products and looks forward to more South African companies investing in India.
