Rupa Dutta appointed as IDI chairperson

Dutta's appointment has been on temporary basis as the post of the IDI chairman was lying vacant after the two year tenure of Aagam Sanghavi ended in 2014.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has chosen its economic adviser, Rupa Dutta as the chairperson of Indian Diamond Institute (IDI), says a report.

The report further adds that Dutta's appointment has been on temporary basis as the post of the IDI chairman was lying vacant after the two year tenure of Aagam Sanghavi ended in 2014. Sanghavi was appointed as chairman of IDI in 2010 and his term was renewed for another two years by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for 2012-2014. On February-2014, Sanghavi's term got expired and that the Government of India did not renew or appoint his successor.

Besides, the government has dissolved the board of IDI and that the new board is likely to be formed in a month or two.
