The forthcoming International Diamond Week (IDW) in Israel will also be an opportunity when a new diamond manufacturing facility will be launched and inaugurated, reports say. This new facility will be referred to as the Modern Manufacturing Centre (MMC) and is planned with the newest in technology, related to sawing and laser cutting machinery, Sarin and OGI decision making technology, and Sarin's Galaxy 2000 for rough diamond analysis. Also, the first class of diamond polishers and cutters has already graduated and all graduates have been placed in local cutting plants.

The concept of the MMC emerged from ‘necessity, as well out of a sense of unity between our industry bodies’, as per Yoram Dvash, Chairman of the IDE's Industry and Marketing Committee, reports say.

According to IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer, the MMC would address the current market developments, that of competition in manufacturing, by ‘rebuilding a well-trained and motivated core group of highly professional cutters and polishers’.

The International Diamond Week is slated from February 8-12, 2015.
