Sotheby’s presents Fine Jewels sale this month

Sotheby’s is organising a sale of Fine Jewels on 16 December, with offerings to suit the Christmas mood, of gifting and presents. The sale features a unique range of jewellery, jewels with noble provenance, animal-themed designs and some lots for the dapper gentleman.

In the category of Noble Jewels for Ladies and Gentlemen, the sale will offer gems from a number of prestigious European families including a set of three enamel, demantoid garnet and diamond dress buttons, circa 1905 formerly in the Collection of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (estimate:$6,500-9,700). These are each designed as the White Rose of York, the heraldic symbol of the House of York and the country of Yorkshire. A collection of buttons, studs and personal memorabilia (est: $4,850-8,100), a diamond diadem from the late 19th-century, formerly in the Collection of Countess Della Croce (est: $4,850-8,100), will also be on auction.

Amongst the Animal Designs and Signed Jewels are animal-themed jewels, employed for their decorative value, from Cartier terriers and turtles to Graff koalas and squirrels from the 1920s to the present day. Diamond, ruby and onyx brooch, Cartier, 1930s, designed a Norfolk Terrier (est:$9,700-12,900), Diamond and onyx, Graff, deigned as two squirrels (est: $12,900-19,400,).

In ‘Perfect Gifts’ are a number of fantastic groups of very wearable and “on-trend” jewels - Sapphire and diamond necklace, early 20th century (est: $11,300-16,100), Pair of azurmalachite and diamond ear clips, David Webb (est: $3,250-4850), a charm bracelet, Cartier, 1940s, sold with a brooch (est: $11,300-16,100). Also are vintage bags and compacts for glamorous evenings, will be on sale.
