Velvetcase, an online designer jewellery marketplace, has mobilised Rs 6 crore in a funding round led by Chennai Angels, says a report.

Apart from Chennai Angels, the other investors included Jacob Kurian, partner at New Silk route Advisors, Arihant Patni, co-founder of Nirvana Venture Advisors, and Jerry Rao, former CEO of software company MphasiS. The latest round of funding is to be used for strengthening their technology platform and analytics to make it more relevant and engaging for the customers and marketing. Velvetcase gets about 15 per cent of its revenue from international markets.

The online retailer’s jewellery is designed by designers like Payal Pratap and Bombay Atelier. It uses 3-D printing to make life-size models of the jewellery, which customers can try on at home before making the final decision. Besides, the company allows customers to send their own designs, which are then converted into the final piece of jewellery. Manufacturing is done in India.
