India’s C&P diamond exports rise 11% in September

In September 2014, India’s exports of cut and polished diamonds rose 11.19 percent (on y-o-y basis) to US$ 2,663.6 million, (the same stood at US$ 2,395.5 million in September 2013), as per reports. Gold jewellery exports in the said month also increased, by 36 percent to US$ 955.1 million (US$ 699.7 million as of September last year).

In the months from April to September 2014, India’s cut and polished diamond exports was slower in comparison to the same period last year – valuing US$ 12,083.7 million this year from US$ 12,434.6 in the six months last year, reports say. Gold jewellery in this six month period noted a rise, from US$ 3,623.6 million last year to US$ 4,570.8 million in the current year.

Also, the category of coloured gemstones noted a drop in the six month period, valuing US$ 224.3 million, from US$ 351.9 million of last year. Silver jewellery exports in the six months increased 31.6 percent (on y-o-y basis) to US$ 1044.8 million.
