diamond world news service

The agreement between De Beers Canada Inc. and the Northwest Territories' (NWT) government will mean De Beer’s supplying 10 percent (in value), of rough diamonds mined from the Gahcho Kue project to the local diamond manufacturers.

Manufacturers would have to comply with Diamond Trading Co. (DTC) and government approval norms. These 10% diamonds will be certified as mined, cut and polished in the Northwest Territories, and would be marketed by DTC in London. A similar agreement was signed in February pertaining to the roughs of the Snap Lake project.
