Business flourished at both, the September 2022 edition of the Italian Vicenza September Jewellery Fair and the 67th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair this past week. Vicenza gold jewellery fair has reported pre-pandemic level visitor turnout and great business prospects. The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair too showed promising business developments with 30% higher participation this year. The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 launched by Cartier and Kering with the goal of “building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness has registered many jewellers working towards sustainability. Deloitte, the UK-based audit, consulting, tax, and advisory services provider has predicted US retail sales to rise by 4% to 6% year-on-year during theholiday season. Mastercard SpendingPulse the retail data analytics, on the other hand has predicted modest growth for the holiday season at 2.2% year-on-year. Platinum Guild International defied US sales reports and reported a 25% year-on-year growth by weight and a 15% increase by unit in the second quarter. PGI specified that gemstone fashion jewelry, platinum crowns and wedding bands were the popular categories. Italian gold and silver jewellery exports were up 36.5% year-on-year while trade volumes at the Thailand event are expected to reach up to 1.2 billion baht.
