Time to fully embrace Tech
The Dubai diamond trade has shown a sharp incline in the recent past, giving impetus to a new hub for the gems and jewellery industry. DMCC hosted its flagship Dubai Diamond Conference (DDC) welcoming nearly 400 government officials, financiers, retailers and investors. The theme for this year’s conference was Disruption in Diamonds: Harnessing Innovation and Technology. This dialogue based conference discussed the impact of technological developments on the industry and the need for creating positive change in the sector.

It's always said the necessity is the mother of all inventions. In a similar vein the diamond industry is in dire need of a lifeline to help keep it afloat. Technology is the future of any business and the diamond business is no exception. Technology will play a key role to tackle the various issues the industry is currently facing and blockchain especially will be of utmost importance for this industry.

To enable more transparency and access to more liquidity within the industry, using technology is something non negotiable.
