Green Shoots Finally
The fact that there is on-going demand for polished diamonds is good news. The increase in demand will continue for the next couple of months, as manufacturers continue to fill their inventory. As manufacturing units in India continue to operate in reduced capacity, the scarcity of inventory and shortage of some goods will be the case for some time.

Demand for rough diamonds has also naturally increased after De Beers and ALROSA decided to go in for a price cut for goods over 1 ct and more. However, to ensure there is balance between supply and demand and the business is lucrative, manufacturers must import just what they need, this has to be the mantra.

The GJEPC hosted its first virtual buyer-seller meet earlier this week with ten exhibitors. Buyers and sellers were able to connect on a one-to-one basis, with a fully virtually secure environment. The fact that the industry is finally seeing a lot of activity and buzz around is certainly good to know.
