Global Recession A Cause for Concern
A record inflation of 8.9% in the 19-country Eurozone has been cause for concern with economic activity at an 18-month low. For India, we could have reached the peak as our inflation rates fell from 7.8% in April to 6.7% in July. Europe’s banks have raised interest rates after almost a decade raising fear of the accentuated global recession rates affecting global economy, notwithstanding India. Global recession means a weak consumer demand and that would reflect in exports at some point. The 2nd edition of the UK Jewellery Festival, saw over 50 of UK’s top brands and suppliers showcase their latest collections and end with the 30th anniversary of the UK Jewellery Awards. RJC Launches Human Rights Due Diligence Toolkit. New toolkit strengthens RJC’s commitment to drive positive meaningful impact on the ground The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the world’s leading standard – setting organization for the global jewelry and watch industry, launched an updated Human Rights Due Diligence Toolkit for its members and the wider industry.

The new toolkit includes significant upgrades, expanded scope and a full re-design from the original toolkit delivered in 2013. Member companies will find practical advice to help them meet the requirements of COP 6 Human Rights. The Toolkit will also be valuable for the wider industry to implement human rights due diligence (HRDD).
