GJEPC and JAB to establish Karnataka jewellery park
|
The gem and jewellery industry in India is witnessing significant growth, particularly in Karnataka. The recent agreement between the Jewellers Association Bengaluru (JAB) and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to establish a jewellery park in the state is expected to boost jewellery manufacturing and trade and create numerous job opportunities.
The India International Jewellery Show - IIJS Tritiya, which recently concluded, saw the participation of over 800 exhibitors and showcased more than 1,500 stalls. The event is poised to promote the growth of the industry in Karnataka, benefiting both manufacturers and retailers.
This growth is reflected in the surge of gem and jewellery exports from Karnataka, which experienced an impressive 169% increase from April 2022 to February 2023, reaching USD 150.33 million.
The GJEPC aims to further raise India's overall gem and jewellery exports from USD 40 billion to USD 75 billion by 2030.
