Diamond ties between UAE and Israel Shine Bright
|
|
Diamond trade between UAE and Israel grew by 163% in 2022 to reach $1.75 billion, according to Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC). This increase highlights the deepening relationship between the two countries following the ratification of the Abraham Accords in 2020.
DMCC's CEO said that Israeli companies have been taking advantage of the free zone's services to grow their businesses. The UAE's diamond trade has been growing for three years, with Israel playing a significant role in its success.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed in May 2022 eliminated tariffs on diamonds and precious stones between the two countries making business lucrative.
The upcoming Israel Diamond Week, scheduled for March 27-28, will include the first Israel Diamond Conference and International Diamond Exhibition, as well as the World Diamond Congress hosted by Israel. These events are expected to further boost the diamond trade between Israel and the UAE.
