The 11th edition of the Innovation Award, celebrated as one of the most prestigious jewellery design awards was presented at the inhorgenta europe 2010. The award was endowed with a 2,000 Euro prize. The jury included an international representation, with six experts from five different countries.

Over 160 jewellery designers participated in the competition, presenting their creativity towards the competition segments of ‘Modern Jewellery Design’, ‘Silver Objects’ and ‘Platinum Jewellery Design’. Four winners were named for the ‘Modern Jewellery Design’ segment, and one each from the segment ‘Silver Objects’ and ‘Platinum Jewellery Design’, and were honoured at a presentation ceremony at inhorgenta europe.

Amongst the winning designs for Modern Jewellery Design were: Birgit Hagmann's three dimensional brooches, inspired by nature; Julia Funk's “Calf Jewellery” which is slightly reminiscent of 1920s era sock garters; a ‘collapsible’ bracelet and necklace by Kirsten Plank, who showed that jewellery wearability can become a pleasantly small ceremony, and lastly Arkadiusz Wolski’s surrealistic ‘Pictograms’ that spoke of ironic, yet decorative statements.

The Special Silver Award was presented to Stefan Strube for his drinking vessels, showcasing a symbiosis between silver and concrete. The Special Platinum Award went to Nina Friesleben for her airy platinum rings and bracelets.

“The endorsement of innovation power and creativity in the jewellery business is the central goal of our trade fair,” emphasizes Armin Wittmann, inhorgenta Europe Exhibition Director. “We consistently focus on supporting talented jewellery designers. The Innovations Award embodies the high design competence of the trade fair and is the perfect complement for the concept of hall C2.” For this reason inhorgenta europe has established itself as the leading international jewellery design show, and is the world’s only platform for designer jewellery in all its facets.
