WJA-LA names two new co-presidents

Both hold a years of repute in the jewellery industry

In view of the retirement of Rossana Aguilar and Mary Todd-McGinnis as the present co-presidents of the Women's Jewelry Association Los Angeles chapter (WJA-LA), the WJA-LA is naming Lisa Schoening and Becka Johnson Kibby as co-presidents for 2009-2010, year with immediate effect. Both the outgoing co-presidents will continue as active members of WJA-LA in board and advisory roles.

Welcoming the new individuals, both of whom are jewellery industry veterans, the WJA-LA introduced Schoening with a track record of being a teacher at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, associated with Gemological Institute of America's (GIA) Los Angeles branch as an instructor, and a teacher at GIA's campuses in California, New York and Italy for nearly 18 years. She is also an American Gem Society Certified Gemologist.She received the 2007 Shining Star Award by WJA for her contribution to the Los Angeles Chapter, where she has been Event Chair for the past four years.

The other new co-president, Johnson Kibby is currently an independent jewellery educator, along with a full-time training manager with Robbins Bros., World's Biggest Engagement Ring Store. Kibby holds a specialisation in training for selling skills, jewellery product knowledge, communication and retail management. She has been an instructor with the GIA, holding seminars and training programmes for retail jewellers.
