One of the main discussions at the inauguration of VICENZAORO First which began today, was to device ways to promote the ‘Made in Italy’ brand. Italian jewellery has been acknowledged the world over as innovate and exotic, but the Italian jewllery industry yet faces the challenge that Italian jewellery is not sold under the ‘Made in Italy’ tag, worldwide. Many Asian markets replicate the jewellery design as their own and sell. The event is slated between January 15-20, 2011.

This year, the event has been conceptualised with new features addressing a renewed focus towards jewellery, design, technology and consumer confidence.

Trends:TJF Group seminars would be conducted with presentations of Trendbook 2012+ contents, a guide created in collaboration with Fiera di Vicenza on forthcoming trends in the jewellery and watch sectors.

Technological aspects would be focused upon at the international Jewellery Technology Forum 2011, the 7th technical seminar entitled “The jewellery world between technology and innovation” in collaboration with the Leg.Or Group.

Ten gold and jewellery companies will dialogue with the same number of young industrial designers on the transfer of know-how acquired at the Italian School of Design and its application to production during the ‘Jewels in search of an author’, project promoted by the Precious Metals Division of the Confartigianato Vicenza with the support of the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce and EBAV.

CIBJO will host a seminar on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility: the United Nations alongside jewellery businesses’ with participation of Irene Pivetti, the former President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and President of the Learn To Be Free no-Profit association, and Pilar Coin, President of the Women’s Jewelry Association Italy. The Chairman of Fiera di Vicenza, Roberto Ditri, will give a keynote address. Gaetano Cavalieri, President of CIBJO will take over as moderator.

The Responsible Jewellery Council will host a round table discussion on product traceability in jewellery entitled ‘Certification in the Jewellery sector: current results and future challenges’. Italian Gemmology Institute will present ‘Amber and Copal: provenance and treatment’.

In the wave of the innovative Fiera di Vicenza project - which also develops the renovation of exhibition spaces – two more presentations are planned for 18 January, for the GemWorld Area Project, and 19 January for the International Pavilion Project.

The excellence of gold and jewellery Made in Italy will also be featured in the West entrance with the “Gold Expressions 2011 collection”, a collaborative effort between the World Gold Council and Fiera di Vicenza. This exhibit will showcase 120 pieces of jewellery created by 23 of the leading Italian gold and jewellery companies.

The event will host 1,460 exhibitors, of which 1,047 are Italian, and 413 are foreign exhibitors. The exhibition area will offer : fine and commercial goldware, jewellery, platinum jewellery, industrial and hand-worked silverware, silver costume jewellery, precious and semi-precious stones, pearls, corals and cameos, wristwatches and pocket watches, machinery and equipment, accessories, gemmological instruments, services and specialized publishing. Silverware for the table and for furnishing, and ornaments.

Foreign countries represented: China, Germany, Thailand, India, Belgium, Turkey, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Greece, France, Switzerland, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Monaco, Japan, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Austria, Portugal, Mauritius, Mexico, Malaysia, Macao, Taiwan, Australia, Armenia and Iran.
