U.S. polished imports rise by 26% in May

The U.S. diamond trade in May 2010 reflected a rise across all categories of imports and exports. Polished diamond imports in the said month rose 26 percent to $1.58 billion and exports by 49 percent to $985 million. In the month, the U.S. net polished imports valued $598 million.

Rough diamond imports increased by 154 percent to $61 million and exports by 214 percent to $44 million. This has resulted in the net rough import valuing $17 million.

The country’s net diamond account which measured net imports increased by around 3 percent to $615 million in May 2010.
