U.S. polished diamond imports rise 8.2% in March

In March 2013, U.S. noted 8.2 percent increase (on y-o-y basis) in its polished diamond imports which valued $1.952 billion. The average price of the polished diamonds imported rose 13.2 percent to $1,798 per carat.

Exports of polished diamonds fell 2.5 percent to $1.493 billion. The country’s net imports rose 68.8 percent ( on y-o-y basis) to $459 million.

Imports of rough diamonds dropped 26.9 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $38 million. Exports of rough diamonds dropped 42.1 percent to $22 million. The country’s net rough diamond imports rose to $16 million (the same was $14 million in March 2012).

The month delivered net diamond imports worth $475 million (the same was worth $286 million in March 2012).
