U.S polished diamond imports drop 22%

In August 2012, U.S. polished diamond exports dropped 8 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $1.278 billion, while the polished diamond imports declined 22 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $1.283 billion.

Imports of rough diamonds increased by 29 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $40 million. Exports of rough diamonds rose by 43 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $20 million.

The country’s net diamond account fell a whooping 91 percent to $25 million.
