U.S. imports of gold jewellery7, 082 kg in October, up 9 per cent

The United States imports of gold jewellery reached 7,082 kg in October, up 9 per cent from a year earlier and the highest level since November 2008, says a report from Reuters. It points out that for the first 10 months of 2015, imports were up 13 percent from year-ago levels. Moreover, the annual growth was steady with September at 13 per cent and down from 21 percent in August. 

The report also points out that Platinum imports to the US rose substantially due to low price. Platinum jewelry imports jumped to 169 kg in October, up 63 percent from October 2014.
