UBM's Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair concludes with decent business

The current weak market sentiments had its impact on the recently concluded Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair. However, the show held during 6th – 8th September, 2014 at Pragati Maidan in Delhi, saw good visitor turnout than the previous year.

Hosted by UBM India, the show had over 180 exhibitors from nearly 25 cities across states of the country. Overall the show was good especially for the North Indian exhibitors. The show saw good participation especially from local Delhi manufacturers and wholesalers. The show generated decent business for the exhibitors. The Delhi edition is one of the major five jewellery shows held annually by UBM India for the Indian Gems and Jewellery industry.

Joji George, Managing Director, UBM India, said, “The success of the Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair 2014 has given us a strong foothold in North India, further strengthened our dominance and India footprint in the jewellery vertical with successful established shows in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkatta and soon to be, Gujarat.”

The road shows conducted by UBM India had garnered a lot of interest. Some of the exhibitors got good orders from the show. Commenting on the same, Anand Kulthia, Director, Kulthiaa Jewel (P) Ltd, said: “ We regularly participate in most of the jewellery shows like IIJS, Signature and others. Expectation was also very high from the UBM show as it was scheduled just before the Navratri whereas most of the retailers start stocking the goods. And to our expectation the show turned out to be very positive as the footfall was really good which is the result of great marketing and road shows done by UBM. We came up with a good preparation and all new varieties which was accepted well at the show and resulted in good orders for us. Three wonderful days at UBM show helped us to add more prospective clients. So, overall experience about the show was positive.”

This year big diamond manufacturers were missing from DJGF. Diamond jewellery received good response. Commenting on the demand for diamond jewellery, Keval Navadiya, Director, Zest Corporation said: “Overall, the show was good. The exhibitors with specialization in the north-Indian jewellery received good business. There were serious buyers though overall footfall was less if compared to other shows. Also, it was good for the manufacturers. We observed good demand for the diamond jewellery.”

Besides, many of the exhibitors raised concern over the too many B2B events happening in one month which might have had effect on the overall show. There was PMI by GJF a week prior to this show and then 'Jewellery Wonder' show after 10 days of this show.
