The growing interest of the male consumer in jewellery, beyond just the traditional watches, tie pins and cufflinks is going to be explored at the INHORGENTA MUNICH. The event slated between 14 - 17, presents the trends in men’s jewelry for 2014.

Altogether six trends have been identified for the current year for men.

Trend 1: Watches are supplemented by jewelry - “Men’s jewelry is the fastest growing segment in the entire jewelry area”, explains Irmie Schüch-Schamburek, proprietor of the trend consulting agency Trendvision. She notes that while watches may continue to be the most popular accessory but they are more than just time tellers, they are ‘more of a status symbol, a symbiosis of function and design.’

Trend 2: Clear design meets with vintage look – In the segment of men’s jewellery, two tendencies can be distinguished this year one is a modern, clear design for the sporty, elegant man through materials like steel, titanium, ceramic and carbon; on the other hand, the vintage and natural elements for the adventurer brought forth through symbols and leather bracelets. Carsten Schmidt-Kippig, Manager of Juwelier Roller in Chemnitz mentioned that “this year’s trend in the men’s area is quite clearly the vintage look” and also noted that “In addition, the area of bracelets, rings and chains continues to grow.”

Trend 3- Prominent testimonials – The segment seems influenced by prominent trendsetters in sports, rock artists like David Beckham and David Garrett, for example.

Trend 4 Jazzy opulence - This diversity and possibility of variation in men’s jewelry is also to be found in the collections from the numerous exhibitors at INHORGENTA MUNICH 2014. Clear and elegant designs in special steel meet with jazzy colors and conspicuous watch design. This is also confirmed by Gregor Kroll, Managing Director of the Pforzheim jewelry producer Pranda & Kroll. “Watches are becoming more and more extravagant. For instance, the new chronometers from Baldessarini take up the theme of camouflage on the dial too, they have a genuine style and go with a suit as well as a leisure wardrobe.”

Trend 5 Men’s jewelry in 2014 _ Trend researcher Irmie Schüch-Schamburek said “We are increasingly witnessing liberalization on the jewelry market. Colorful friendship bracelets are to be seen on businessmen as much as on surfers.” Irmie also mentioned a trend of high-tech jewelry. “Energy bracelets made of synthetic material as well as rubber bracelets” are popular according to the expert.

Trend 6 Understatement in black - to contrast with the jazzy colors, the design focus is on black this year: special steel and silver, both blackened, and elegant gold convey the understated look in combination with all-time classics like rubber and leather.
