The Dubai International Jewellery Trade to make debut in April

Inspired by the success of the recent 18th edition of the Dubai International Jewellery Week 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai World Trade Centre has launched a new event, the Dubai International Jewellery Trade, in April 2014.

This B2B show is designed for the jewellery trade community in Dubai, and will provide manufacturers and wholesalers a platform to network with buyers from large jewellery consumer markets in the Gulf region, India, Russia and CIS countries. The inaugural event, slated over three days, will also provide a unique opportunity to all local and international brands seeking presence in the region.

As per a 2013 PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report, The Direct Economic Impact of Gold, commissioned by the World Gold Council, the impact of gold jewellery consumption in the UAE was estimated at USD2.5 billion, the fifth highest in the world after China, India, United States and Russia. Also, The UAE ranked as one of the top 13 gold consuming countries, with gold jewellery consumption at 50 tonnes, indicating the industry’s strong performance and UAE’s significance in the global jewellery market.

The success of the Dubai International Jewellery Week underlines the key importance of the UAE market for the global gem and jewellery industry. The 18th edition saw more than 23,964 visitors from 99 countries and 367 exhibitors across the world. The show was successful in terms of both networking and business deals, and an opportunity to witness and experience high quality, wide selection, fine design, and price competitiveness of products including precious metals, diamonds and other high quality gemstones. Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, DWTC, organiser of Dubai International Jewellery Week, said: “This show is testament to both the resilience of the UAE retail trade and 367 exhibitors who have pulled out all the stops to put on such a superb showcase.”
