With the investigations still underway at the state police, no arrest has been made so far.
the police note that as per the CCTV footage, a burglar entered the shop from the rear end, by drilling a hole in the wall, and made off with the jewels. The rear wall was worked upon in 2007, where a sliding glass window was replaced by a single brick line using concrete. This was not plastered from the outside, but only from within the showroom and a wooden shelf was attached next to it from the inside of the retail store. The hole made by the burglar was in the one foot gap between the wooden shelf and a concrete column, reports say. With these details, the police suspect the play of an insider to have informed the burglar of the location of the weak spot in the wall and the detail of the inside of the showroom.
In the ongoing investigations, the CCTV footage reveals the burglar apparently being affected by polio in his right leg and who walked directly to the main switch and turned it off. He wore surgical gloves, a face mask and tied rags around his legs to avoid leaving gait marks.
The police noted that is has formed special teams with central crime station officials to nab the robbers, reports add.
