Sotheby’s Australia has selected a variety of stunning jewels to be offered in its August sale of Important Jewels. The sale is slated at the InterContinental Sydney, on August 29th.

The 210 lots to be offered on sale carry an estimated sale range of $1.9 million to $2.6 million. The lots include an impressive selection of accessible and desirable coloured gemstones and diamonds, as well as period jewels and watches, including a magnificent selection of aspirational designer and iconic pieces from Bulgari, Cartier, David Webb, Harry Winston, Rolex, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Geoffrey Smith, Chairman of Sotheby’s Australia commented: ‘Sotheby’s Australia’s Important Jewels sales are a great source of excitement among collectors. We are delighted to offer such a wonderful selection of designer pieces and quality gemstones in our August auction. The diversity and strength of our Important Jewels auction is a testament to our commitment to sourcing rare pieces of the highest quality.’

A highlight of the sale is an impressive selection of jewels by Cartier. The cover lot is an 18ct white gold, diamond and south sea pearl ‘Agrafe’ pendant necklace, circa 2007. Modelled as a line of brick links embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds, set to the centre with a stylised buckle motif terminating in a cultured pearl suspended from an open work circular link. Designed as a continuous line of honeycomb links bead-set with brilliant-cut diamonds is an 18ct gold and diamond necklace, circa 1980. The necklace is flanked with collet-set diamonds, decorated at intervals with chevron motif plaques. The diamonds together weight approximately 25.00 carats and the necklace is completed by a concealed clasp.

International demand remains strong for diamonds and the sale features an impressive selection of diamonds and coloured diamonds. Estimated at $280,000-320,000 a round brilliant-cut diamond weighing 11.90 carats is set in a platinum ring. There is also a 11.17 carat radiant-cut diamond clawset in a mount pave-set with brilliant-cut diamonds.

The Art Deco period representative of luxury, glamour and exuberance will be seen at the auction with - a platinum and diamond double clip/brooch from the 1930s. Of symmetrical design, with open work geometric motif brooch it is embellished with baguette and circular-cut diamonds together weighing approximately 30.55 carats.
