Sotheby’s to offer jewels from Mrs. Marjorie S. Fisher’s collection in sale

Sotheby’s is offering property from the collection of philanthropist and collector Mrs. Marjorie S. Fisher including jewellery, furniture and fine art in various sales which will begin in fall in New York. Mrs. Fisher’s collection has been built over 50 years, including over 1,000 individual lots.

The collection of Mrs Fisher includes among others a celestial-inspired silver, gold and diamond tiara made circa 1890, a mid-century sapphire and diamond ‘Wrapped Heart’ brooch by Verdura and a pair of 21st century Chrysoprase, pink opal and diamond earclips by JAR.

There are over 40 designers represented in the collection including Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., David Webb and more. Many of the jewels have storied and distinguished provenance, having formerly been in the collection of other celebrated philanthropists.

Magnificent Jewels & Fine Jewels sales are slated in December between 8 and 9, respectively.

The December sale of Magnificent Jewels will offer a dedicated session presenting over 200 pieces. This initial offering is led by a platinum and diamond ring (estimate: $1.25/1.75million). The ring is crafted with a marquise-cut diamond of 18.04 carats, D-color, VVS1 clarity and potentially internally flawless. Other highlights of the sale include a stylized gold, platinum and diamond ‘Tulip Necklace’ by Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., France and a ‘Mystery Set’ ruby and diamond brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, France.

The Magnificent Jewels sale will offer other remarkable pieces of leading designers.

Following the Mag8inificent Jewels sale, Sotheby’s will offer around 100 lots from Mrs. Fisher’s collection in the Fine Jewels sale on December 9th. The sale will highlight Mrs Fisher’s appreciation for the flora and fauna theme – with a gem-encrusted garden composed of roses, carnations, lilies and more. Further offerings of jewellery will be included in sales throughout 2017.
