Auction house Sotheby’s is offering a spectacular diamond named “Unique Pink” in its forthcoming Spring sale of Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels in May. It is the largest fancy vivid pink pear-shaped diamond ever to be offered at auction weighing 15.38 carats. The “Unique Pink” will lead the sale, and be offered with a pre-sale estimate of $28-38 million.

The Unique Pink is a supremely rare and exceptional Fancy Vivid Pink diamond weighing 15.38 carats. It received the highest possible colour grading for a pink diamond from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and is found to be Type IIa, displaying “exceedingly pure structure”. A GIA monograph describes it has a rare and remarkable beauty. The stone’s exquisite pear shape and brilliant cut accentuate its exceptional saturation, giving it the repute of belonging to a rarefied category even among the world’s most beautiful diamonds.

David Bennett, Worldwide Chairman of Sotheby’s International Jewellery Division, said, “It is difficult to imagine a diamond that better illustrates the term Vivid Pink than this outstanding stone. The colour is simply astonishing and, for its size, it is in my experience truly unique.”

Sotheby’s will hold its Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels sale in Geneva on 17 May.
