Sotheby’s New York clocks its highest ‘February sale’ this year

Sotheby’s New York clocked $8,897,278 worth of revenues at its Important Jewels auction in New York, its highest ever in a February auction and which met well with its presales estimates of $6.8 million to $9.4 million. The sale saw a healthy participation from clients across international markets, both at the venue and through its new online BidNow program.

The auction house believes this reflects a robust improvement in the U.S. market jewellery demand and is hopeful at another success at its Magnificent Jewels sale slated for April 14, 2011. The top lot of the Important Jewels auction was a Harry Winston deisgned 15.98-carat platinum and emerald-cut diamond ring (sold for: $662,500), followed by a 3.52-carat platinum and round diamond ring (sold for: $290,500), and Harry Winston designed 5.7-carat platinum and emerald-cut diamond ring (sold for: $242,500) as the third top lot.
