Sotheby’s HK sale to offer 8.41 carat Fancy Vivid Purple-Pink Diamond

For its Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Autumn Sale 2014, Sotheby’s Hong Kong has selected a 8.41-Carat Pear-shape Internally Flawless (IF) Fancy Vivid Purple-Pink Diamond as part of the sale offering. The diamond carries a price estimate of US$12.8 – 15.4 million and the auction house considers it the most desirable pink diamond to appear at auction in recent years.

This Purple-Pink Diamond, is characterised by the “Fancy Vivid” colour - the highest colour grading by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) signifying the most vibrant and concentrated colour in diamonds, and also the Internally Flawless clarity, making it rank amongst the rarest and most desirable of coloured diamonds ever seen at auction.

The stone was cut from a 19.54-carat rough mined by De Beers, and finally cut in New York. The stone’s internally flawless clarity is extremely rare amongst pink diamonds, and virtually unseen in any significant pink diamond of Fancy Vivid or Fancy Intense colour grading ever sold at auction. The stone will be previewed in Singapore, Taipei, New York, London, Geneva and Hong Kong before the auction. The sale is slated on 7 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
