Siemens Ltd., the flagship listed company of Siemens AG in India has been appointed to provide cutting-edge, integrated security based systems to the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). The BDB is located in Mumbai and is the world’s largest diamond exchange spread across 20 acres.

Siemens is undertaking this project in close cooperation with BDB steering committee and their consultant M/s John Mech – EL l. It has devised the comprehensive state-of-the-art security system drawing upon the in-depth knowledge and experience of the global team. The complete system is scheduled to be operational by November 2012.

The BDB demonstrates a need for a highly well developed security system, owing to its facilities like offices of diamond traders, walk-in vaults, safe deposit boxes, trading floor, strong rooms, lockers and customs clearance facilities and an inflow of more than 20,000-30,000 people daily.

The Building Technologies Division of Siemens Ltd. will implement the comprehensive integrated security solutions. Siemens will deliver critical security, fire safety and building management system (BMS) using an integrated Internet Protocol (IP)-based monitoring network, which includes CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, fire alarm, building automation and central control centre. Siemens will integrate video alarms and monitoring with a video wall covering the entire wall of the central control room to enable viewing of the video data across the 20-acre complex.

The primary purpose of the surveillance of BDB is to enhance the safety and security conditions safeguarding assets and personnel and to monitor the operation of the huge complex centrally.
