Seiko has entitled its latest collection of timepieces as ‘Seiko Astron’. The brand had created a patented, low-energy-consumption GPS receiver, which has helped create a watch that receives GPS signals and denote the time zone, time and date with the help of the global network of GPS satellites. Seiko plans to release its new collection globally, during autumn this year, reports say.

The watch is designed to automatically receive a signal once a day. In addition there is also a manual button which connects to four or more GPS satellites for identifying the position, time and to adjust the hands automatically in under 30 seconds.

Being solar powered and having a calendar that tells dates upto February 2100 are some of the additional features of the watch. This watch also includes many smart features in its functions of identifying the time zones and locations and GPS signals.

As an introduction collection of the Seiko Astron, a limited edition of 2,500 pieces is being offered in titanium and steel, but all carrying uniform features.
