Sarine announces progress in testing of its Clarity and Colour grading technologies

Sarine Technologies Ltd announced making major progress with the large scale testing of its revolutionary automated, consistent and reliable Clarity and Colour grading technologies.

The company noted that the large scale testing of its new technologies for the automated, objective and consistent grading of a polished diamond's Clarity and Colour grades, has progressed well since it began last year as was announced on 10 November 2016. The technologies have already achieved the ability to correctly and consistently match the grading opinion of a reference group of multiple human gemmologists, and the actual polished stone's gemmological lab report when available, within a grade’s accuracy, with 97 percent correlation for Clarity and 99 percent correlation for Colour. These error rates, of 3 percent and 1 percent respectively compare with the current error rate of manual grading, which Sarine notes to be in excess of 7 percent for Clarity and 3.5 percent for nonfluorescent Colour (Colour grading of fluorescent diamonds is substantially worse), based on statistical analyses of the manual grading reference group (typically, 10% of Clarity grade results are contested).

Sarine expects that these numbers will be further refined over time, as its self-teaching algorithms are perfected, so that the error rates for both Clarity and Colour will ultimately be less than 1 percent. ‘Thus, we will be able to introduce an entirely new level of accuracy, consistency and reliability to the Clarity and Colour grading paradigm. We remain on track for commercialisation in Q3 2017, with the formal launch scheduled for mid-September’, the company noted.

David Block, Chief Executive Officer of Sarine said, "Introducing technology for the comprehensive 4Cs grading at an unmatched level of accuracy, consistency and reliability, will take the consumer's confidence to an all-new level. Together with our ProfileTM, which is completely changing the buying experience in virtually all the APAC markets and starting to do so in North America, as well, this will enable retailers to enhance their brand at an entirely new level of sophistication. The 21st century calls for 21st century technology, and we are at the forefront of providing same to the retail diamond market.”
