Sales at Birks & Mayors drop 4% in first half

Loss amounts to $5.7 million

At Birks & Mayors, the six months ending September 29, 2012, Birks & Mayors recorded a 4 percent drop (on y-o-y basis) in its sales to $124.9 million, reports say. Loss amounted to $5.7 million ( the same was $5.6 million in the comparable six months last year).

Globally, its comparable-store sales increased 3 percent. But in the U.S. markets there was a 2 percent drop and an 8 percent increase in Canada. Cost of sales declined 2 percent to $71 million.
