Saffronart to host India’s first fine jewel auction

The first public auction of fine Indian jewels and watches is just around the corner, promoted by Saffronart, pioneers of online auctions of Indian art. The auction will be held from October 6-7, 2008, with a product portfolio inspired by India’s rich tradition of jewellery and design.

The format of auction will be unconventional, in an online manner on its website : www.saffronart.com. The promoters believe this method to deliver a fine experience in auction events, as it allows privacy for buyers, participation of a number of buyers from across the globe, and a selective buying environment. The intent is to deliver an intuitive and effortless bidding and buying experience for clients.

Buyers will be presented a rich collection of jewels ranging from strands of Basra pearls – preferred by generations of Indian royalty, Burmese rubies, Colombian emeralds and diamonds, several significant lots, including cutting edge pieces by contemporary designers, exceptional watches, and impressive, un-mounted fancy coloured diamonds. The buyers will be assisted through an illustrated catalogue and preview events at Saffronart’s galleries in Mumbai and New York.
