Rio Tinto to present 56 Argyle Pink Diamonds in tender

Mining giant Rio Tinto is presenting a rare collection of it Argyle pink diamonds for its annual tender slated in the last quarter of 2012. The company describes these diamonds to be characterised as suited for ‘investment portfolios or heirloom pieces of jewelry, reports add. ‎Some of the diamonds have been named as ‘hero’, underlining the aspiratons of ‘desirability’ of the extraordinary.

Altogether 56 single pink diamonds including two ‎red diamonds, and 19 lots of blue diamonds will be up for sale. The Argyle Siren of 1.32-carat, a square radiant cut, fancy vivid purplish ‎pink diamond, and Argyle Satine of a 1.02-carat, cushion cut, fancy intense purplish pink ‎diamond are part of the sale. ‎

The collection of rare blue dimaonds has been named ‘Once in a Blue Moon’. The stones in this collection have been gathered ocver two years. There is the Argyle Allure of a 0.33-carat, a heart-shaped diamond, Argyle Elektra and Argyle ‎Heloise, and other diamodns of oval and pear shaped in blue and violet hue.

The sale also holds interest for the Argyle Pink Diamonds are rare in their characteristics and limited in availability. Rio Tinto has slated the preview of the collection in September and October and tender viewings in Perth, Hong Kong and London. The bids will close on October 15, 2012.‎
