Rio Tinto is concluding the worldwide tour of its annual Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, in Hong Kong, with a by-invitation viewing. The tender will offer the best of a year’s production of extremely rare red and pink diamonds.

Amongst the diamonds in the tender are four extremely rare Fancy Red diamonds, headlined by the Argyle Cardinal™ - a spectacular 1.21 carat radiant cut Fancy Red diamond. Only 13 Fancy Red diamonds have been included in the Tender since the inaugural event in 1984. Other diamonds are the Argyle Rosette™, a 2.17 carat Fancy Intense Purple-Pink emerald cut diamond and the Argyle Toki™, a 1.59 carat Fancy Intense Purplish Pink emerald cut diamond.

Rio Tinto Diamonds managing director Jean-Marc Lieberherr said “There is strong global interest in our Tender diamonds from both the established and emerging markets. It is great to be in Hong Kong and see the excitement around this year’s Tender collection. Rarity, beauty, craftsmanship and a very special birthplace are a potent combination for collectors, connoisseurs and fine jewellery specialists.”

After the viewing in Hong Kong, the diamonds would be taken to Australia and bids would close on 8 October 2014.
