Rio Tinto appoints Jean-Marc Lieberherr to head its diamond business

Rio Tinto has appointed Mr Jean-Marc Lieberherr as Managing Director of its Diamonds business, with which he will be responsible for all aspects of the Rio Tinto Diamonds business.

Jean-Marc Lieberherr will assume the role beginning September 1,

Most recently Jean-Marc was Chief Commercial Officer for Rio Tinto Diamonds, having joined Rio Tinto Diamonds in 2005. His appointment was made as part of a restructure, following Rio Tinto’s decision to retain the Diamonds business in its portfolio. Included in the restructure was the consolidation of diamond mining operations under Mr Kim Truter who will be appointed Chief Operating Officer for the Diamonds business, reporting to Jean-Marc Lieberherr. Kim currently holds the position of Managing Director of the Argyle Diamond Mine and was previously President of the Diavik Diamond Mine.
