Polished diamond exports from US rise 36% in October

In October 2010, US exported polished diamonds worth $1.25 billion, which was a 36 percent rise (y-o-y), and imported polished diamonds worth $1.9 billion, which rose 42 percent. The country’s net polished imports valued $655 million, which was a 56 percent jump (y-o-y).

Rough diamond trade in the said month saw rough diamond imports rising 58 percent to $57 million, while exports valued $55 million, dipping by a whooping 111 percent. The country’s net rough imports were at $2 million, as compared to $10 million in October 2009.

The month saw the country’s net diamond account value $657 million, which indicated a 53 percent increase y-o-y.
