Speaking at the event, Herr Guenter Lorenz spoke of the rich culture of India which is an opportunity for students to take advantage of while designing and to refrain from imitating western designs and end up producing mass design concepts. He also spoke of the importance of working with adequate time, and consistent quality check.
The program began with a seminar organized by PAN-GEMS (Alumni Association) on Crystal Healing by Mrs. Meghana Thite, an expert on crystal therapy. In her presentation, Dr. Jayshree Panjikar focused on synthetic CVD diamonds, which are now slowly flooding the market with the development of technology. Methane gas can be converted into synthetic diamond within few hours is something one should take note of. One must remember that Methane gas is a regular by-product of Biogas plants and if the know-how is made available CVD synthetic diamonds could be produced in large quantity in India as well. Therefore gemmologists have a challenging future ahead.
