Namibia’s diamond resources at seabed to be around 1.5 billion carats

The reducing potential of natural diamond resources on land to serve demand, may not pose an immediate stress for Namibia’s diamond industry, as Namibia is reported to hold around 1.5 billion carats on the seabed, reports say. The country has been facing a reduced number in its diamond factories owing to the lack of rough diamond supplies and the fragile market conditions.

Its seabed resource would help Namibia sustain its diamond output, as per reports.

The country’s government and De beers together have a joint venture namely Namdeb Holdings which produced 1.8 million carats last year.
