MJSA Innovation Awards for four

The MJSA Innovation Awards for 2007, was shared by four products. The annual award ceremony to recognises the most creative tools, technologies and processes initiated during a particular year. It is hosted by Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America (MJSA) and MJSA Journal.

The winning products were:
-Blanking Die Saw created by New Concepts. An ergonomically designed saw that allows quick, easy and precise cuts at the bench.
-NextEngine's Desktop 3D Scanner designed by NextEngine Inc. It is a desktop scanning system which uses a multi-laser array to scan 50,000 surface points per second.
-Noble Investment created by Ransom and Randolph. It is a water-mixed solution that is safer to use, ship and store than investments using an acid binder.
-4X ZeroShrink Silicone Mold Rubber by Zero-D Products Inc. With this jewellery-manufactureres can mold carved waxes and resins. The device cures within five minutes per quarter-inch of thickness at 250 degrees Fahrenheit without shrinkage. The rubber can withstand high-tear, is durable to put up with high clamp and injection pressures.

The jury panel included worldwide names like Michael Coan, chair of the Jewelry Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City; Dr. Christopher W. Corti, consultant to the World Gold Council and principal of CoreGold in London; and Charles Lewton-Brain, goldsmith, author, educator and inventor of fold-forming in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Innovation Awards presentation will feature at MJSA’s Expo New York 2008.
