Lucara Diamond receives 11,000 entries for naming its 1,111 carat diamond

After Lucara Diamond Corp began a competition inviting people of Botswana to name its 1,111 carat diamond, the company has recovered response from 11,000 citizens, as per reports.

The diamond was discovered at Lucara’s Karowe mine in Botswana and is reputed as the largest diamond to be recovered in Botswana and the second largest diamond found in the world.

The competition was held from January 18th to 28th wherein the winner will be awarded a cash prize of about US$2,200. The winning entry would be announced in press conference, those in Gaborone and the Indaba Conference in Cape Town on February 9th, as per reports.
