Leo Schachter Diamonds ranked first in the annual list of Israel’s largest polished diamond exporters published by the Israel Diamond Controller’s Office in the Ministry of Economy. The company’s net exports clocked 3.5 increase on y-o-y basis to $328 million in 2013 ($317 million in 2012). This is its third consecutive year as the first in the list.

Total net polished exports of the 20 largest companies in 2013 stood at $1.95 billion, or about 32 percent of Israel’s net total polished exports in 2013 of $6.2 billion.

In the list. Leo Schachter is followed by M.I.D. House of Diamonds with $247 million and A.A. Rachminov Diamonds with $210 million. In 4th and 5th place are Niru Diamonds Israel and Ofer Mizrahi Diamonds, with $112 million and $103 million in net exports, respectively.

The list continues with names: Andre Messika (6th place), with $100 million; D.N. Diamonds with $94 million and Yoshfe Diamonds International with $91 million, Rosy Blue Sales with $82 million and in 10th place, O.S.G. Polishing with $77 million. D.N. Diamonds Israel more than doubled its exports on y-o-y basis and proved to be a surprise in the year. Of the top 20 twenty firms all but four firms registered an increase. The four companies recording a drop include Niru Diamonds (7 percent), Polygem (25 percent), Rachminov Diamonds (16 percent) and Eran Diamonds-Yehuda Sayag (11 percent). Shlomo Bichaci Diamonds showed no change from the 2012 figures, which stood at $40 million. Two firms joined the list this year, having appeared in 2011 but not in 2012. The Kuperman Brothers Diamonds’ exports rose 12.3 percent to $64 million in 2013, compared to $57 million in 2011. The Sigaldiem firm saw a major drop of $53.6 percent in exports, dropping from $69 million in 2011 to $32 million in 2013.

The Diamond Controller noted that the list of 20 does not include 19 companies who chose not to publish their export figures. He said that the top 30 companies accounted for exports of $3.2 billion or 53 percent of Israel’s net total polished exports.
