Land allotted for the proposed diamond bourse in Surat

Land has been allotted for a proposed diamond bourse in the Indian city of Surat, a prominent diamond hub of the country, and the world, reports say.

Recently, a meeting for the same was held between Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel and members of the proposed Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), at the first visit of the Chief Minister after taking on her CM's role, reports add. Accordingly, Anandiben Patel has agreed to allot 200,000 square meters of government land near the city’s airport.

The CM has asked the district collector to complete the land allotment process, without delay.

The proposed Bourse is expected to be bigger than the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai, and will position Surat as the prime centre for polished diamond trading reports suggest. The facility has reportedly received response from almost 15,000 companies and entities in the industry, for setting up their offices in the premises.
