The D-Scope features a patented gem manipulating system to facilitate facet measurements, and incorporates two light sources: a dark-field light and daylight to control the inner and outer characteristics of a polished diamond. A special light source called “Avalight” can be added, which is used to visualise the surface finish of a facet with very high contrast. HRD Antwerp has an extensive experience in researching, examining and grading diamonds which it fully used during the development of its own analysis tool, the powerful diamond microscope D-Scope. This tool has constantly been evaluated and refined throughout the years in order to optimise the analysis of diamonds. Each D-Scope is available with either Zeiss, Leica or Olympus optics and can be equipped with a USB camera.
Over the years Kiran Gems has ordered many D-scopes, among other HRD Antwerp equipment, for use in its state-of-the-art production facility in Surat. The latest unit they ordered turned out to be the 2000th D-Scope ever to be produced by the HRD Antwerp Equipment factory in Belgium, which was handed over to the Kiran Gems Management during a small ceremony.
