Jewellers Association, Ahmedabad plans to organize an event called ‘Suvarna Utsav’- The grand Shopping Festival, through which it intends to benefit small traders and give recognition to craftsmen. The announcement was made in the presence of Shri Shantibhai Patel (President, Jewellers Association, Ahmedabad), Shri Chandreshbhai (Zaveri & Co.), Shri Dharmendrabhai (Suvarnakala), Shri Manojkumar (A.B Jewelers), Shri Bharatbhai (Anjali Jewelers) and the Jewelers Association committee.

The Festival is slated from 1 - 23rd October, 2014.

Mr. Shantibhai Patel, President, Jewellers Association, Ahmedabad said, “Our Association is concerned due to the present market scenario but we are still looking forward towards the customer’s demands with new hope. Hence, we have organized this SUVARNA UTSAV. Keeping in mind International market scenario, we intend to give our customers certain rate of discounts and special gifts on the shopping of a specific amount.”

In the year 2004, a similar festival was organized and was well appreciated by customers, attracting the high participation of over 50 members including leading family jewelers such as Zaveri & Co., A.B Jewelers, Anjali Jewelers, Suvarnakala Jewelers amongst others this year. The platform would also serve to recover losses incurred by jewelers over the past lean six months for business and also to introduce new promotional schemes. Shantibhai added that, the platform also intends to “increase employment for craftsmen by taking their work to the art lovers.” While customers do purchase machine graded Jewellery from abroad, there is also an interest to buy handmade jewellery from Gujarat including Kundan, studded jewellery, plain gold, platinum and gold and diamond jewellery. Approximately 2 Lakh craftsmen are associated with this industry in Gujarat. “Our Suvarna Utsav Scheme is a small step to ensure a bright future for the Industry and for Gold lovers across the world,” he added.

The festival also aims to help traders in the current times of uncertain gold prices and high import duties, by imparting interest in gold jewellery once again.
