 Jaipur to host first ever International Colored Gemstone Mines to Market Conference

Jaipur, a leading world market for manufacture of coloured gemstone and gemstone jewellery, will host the debut edition of the International Colored Gemstone Mines to Market Conference organized by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC). The event is slated between 2 - 3rd November 2011. Having initiated a similar platform - International Diamond Conference held last year, and with the new International Colored Gemstone Mines to Market Conference the GJEPC intends to “establish India as a complete market from where all needs can be sourced- In short make it a One Stop Shop for the global consumers”, as noted by Mr. Rajiv Jain, Chairman, GJEPC.

“With Mines to Market initiative, the industry stands to address all the global concerns, forge a solid road ahead, determine all the necessary steps that need to be taken to establish and maintain the Global Brand positioning of India. We are the leaders in manufacturing emeralds and Tanzanites and Jaipur is key when it comes to colour stones in India.” added Mr. Rajiv Jain.

The two day conference will host experts from various countries. It aims at taking stock, of the Colored Gemstone Industry globally and evolving a way forward, with each country presenting a paper on the future plans and panel discussions.

GJEPC has confirmed the following list of speaker who will broadly cover topics relating every aspect of colour stone trade from mining and geology, enhancements, treatments and other researches to branding and marketing, logistic and finance among others. The conference will be moderated by industry expert and gem explorer, Mr. Yianni Melas. Speakers include : Robert Weldon- one of world’s best photographers on gems, GIA California; Bill Larson -Geologist and owner of Pala Gems, USA; Federico Barlocher- Gem Trade Italy and expert on Burma; Richard Hughes-author of ruby and sapphire book, director of mining in Laos, Australia; George Shen- leading expert on China and renowned Gemologist; Odulio Moura-best Geologist in Brasil and buyer for wild company in Germany;Vincent Pardeau-GIA Thailand, famous gem explorer; Steve Benett- owner Gems.tv in UK; Wilawan Atichat- Director Thai Gemological Institute; Glenn Lehrer-Master American Gem carver cutter and artist; Peter Lyckberg-one of world’s best geologists on Russia and Afghanistan, Sweden; Shaltiel Cohen- worlds best cutter and consultant for setting up cutting factories, Zamrot; Jeffry Wang Chi Ming-CEO of Magfrey, one of China’s largest jewelry factories HK S.E listed; John & Mark Saul- father and son.
