Jadau jewellery by Pankaj Surana makes a statement at Festival De Cannes

Jewellery created by Pankaj Surana, Creative and managing head – of the House of Surana, and bearing his personal label, was worn by Bollywood actress Vidya Balan on the red carpet at Festival De Cannes.

The jewellery accentuated her ensemble at the festival, fashioned by leading fashion designer Sabyasachi and gave the craft of Jadau a prominent international showcase.

"I have always had a strong desire and conviction that Jadau, as a uniquely Indian art form in jewellery had so much potential to be further introduced and promoted beyond our shores; for it to be appreciated for its beauty and artistry as we do here. Bringing it to Cannes and on the red carpet was my little contribution in furtherance of that belief. Interestingly, we have already had some interest from some noted western actresses asking about Jadau pieces including the ones Vidya was wearing," said Mr. Surana.

The jewellery was crafted in both contemporary and traditional tastes, inspired by the designer’s Rajasthani roots and Sabyasachi’s limited edition Maharani Gayatri Devi collection. The emphasis was firmly on a blend of simplicity and elegance, with traditional elements merged with bold colors and layering to give a purist yet avant-garde feel.

A scion of one of the most prominent families of Jaipur, Pankaj Surana represents the 10th generation of the iconic Surana lineage. He brings a fresh international sensibility and workmanship to the brand’s signature style of antique and jadau fine jewellery developed over 20 years of his life.
